Popularity

This is the most popular campaign

This is a campaign that i have made on the social networking site bebo, and there are other campaigns on facbook and myspace similar to this. www.bebo.com/lives-not-knives But, aren't you getting fed up of switching on your TV, checking the news and hearing yet again that another person has been killed through knife crime? I'm sure i'm not the only one who feels this way. And to top it all off, I've recently concluded that teenagers are no longer the only victims. Adults in their 20's, 18 year olds are also becoming victims. How can one walk on road without being anxious of getting hurt or confronted by delinquents (-hoodrats for those who don't know). The first Commandment in the Bible is 'Thou shall not kill'. It is the first law in society. Life is sacred, it is an extrodinary gift, and the fact that some teenagers want to play God and think they have the right to take anothers life is disgusting and appauling. This year over 20 teenagers have been victims of knife crime, and as far as I'm concerned something has to be done. If you are one of those teenagers who think you are superior nd have the right to take away someones life then, GO AND JOIN THE ARMY! I want to urge teenagers that using violence to solve anythng is not the way. Statists show that if you carry a knif you are more likely to get stabbed yourself. I also want to raise awarenss and gather teenagers views on this escalating problem in our society and on what they think can be done to stop it.

I am 44 a jeweller and bladesmith , I make high quality pocket knives. I also teach bushcraft and Hunting skills in the summer to teenagers. People have carried folding pocket knives for hundreds of years and you can still do so legaly in every day Life. (exemption under section 139 of the 1988 weapons act). But, over the last 20 years I have seen a rise in teens carrying kitchen knives and craft knives for offensive use. THIS IS WRONG AND IT IS ILLEGAL, the Law is there to penalise people who do this - but it is not being applied. the Police and C.P.S are not tough enough on offenders. people carrying innapropriate knives without just cause in public should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law.

I fully back this campaign, because I also am fed up of turnin g on the Tv and hearing that yet another teen has been killed due to gang violence usually through knife crime. It makes mi wonder sometimes if we're actually gunna be safe in our own generation. So I hope this campaign goes far.

A campaign that reflects the current problems in society and Kanayo is very right in saying that something needs to be done, i give my support to this, you have my vote.

a very good message being put across

LOLA, 29 August 2008 19:35

if the government and parents educate the children well enough by like creating empathy and sympathy then people will know what it feels like to be a victim and so they wont do the crime. And if you teach one person then maybe they can spread the word and teach their friends about knife crime and that will eliminate peer pressure. the only thing left is the media. media can help reduce knife crime but instead they just choose to make it a piece of gossip. so i dunno how that can be controlled but i think everyone of them above is responsible.
